The Fêtefully Team
GiGi McDowell | CEO/Founder of Fêtefully
GiGi McDowell is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fêtefully. GiGi began planning weddings professionally at the age of 13 after planning her first formal event at six. At six years old, GiGi hired a DJ, ordered catering, decorated the space and had her friends dress in formal attire to celebrate. After this birthday party GiGi was forever drawn to event planning. Later that year, GiGi discovered Brides magazine. So, she secretly ordered a subscription using her mother’s credit card information. A few months later, her mother saw the charges on her account and wondered who had subscribed to the magazine. GiGi came clean and told her mother that she used her card because she loved weddings and her mother allowed her to continue her subscription. Those are the moments that created the passionate event planner GiGi has become.
After graduating from Texas State University, GiGi began working at the Dallas Museum of Art in the Human Resources department and quickly learned that she would forever be miserable if she continued to work everyday for a paycheck and without purpose. She left her full time position in Dallas, TX for an unpaid wedding planning internship in Nashville, TN with everything she owned in the trunk of her car. GiGi was determined to figure out WHY she’d been so compelled to sacrifice so much to make other’s dreams come true…. That WHY was Fêtefully. After meeting with various planners, brides, and vendors in Oklahoma City, GiGi used those conversations to create Fêtefully. Once she had a concept, she consulted Angela Proffitt and Jane Buckingham on their thoughts and feedback – they became her first advisors and investor. From there, GiGi taught herself how to build the Fêtefully web platform and recruited a few professional planners to join the movement. GiGi now works on Fêtefully full time as well as volunteers in the Dallas Tech Startup community.
